It is hard to believe, but October is already here. Our classroom routines are now clearly established and we are engaging whole heartedly with the curriculum.
Here is what we are working on during October:
1. Math: Patterns, T-tables and Number Sense (Whole Numbers, Counting, Adding, Subtracting)
2. Language Arts: Class Novel Study: "Charlotte's Web"
3. Reading: Guided Reading Groups, Strategies Good Readers Use, and Independent Reading
4. Social Studies: Geography (Mapping the world and Canada)
5. Science: Weather*
6. Spelling: Weekly Spelling Homework Assignments
7. French: Numbers, Simple Conversation
8. Health and Planning: The Friends for Life Program
9. Art: Seasonal Art and Collage
* Science will begin when our SS Geography Unit is complete, which should occur in the second half of October.
October is a busy time. Please take the opportunity to talk with your student about what is happening at school and to ask about assignments. Also, please feel free to stop by the classroom to chat with me in person.
