November is here and October is already history. We are now operating at full speed in all subject areas. As we finish units in one area we immediately move on to new topics and skills, so consult this sub-blog to keep up to date with what we are currently doing.
There will be a home Reading assignment this month. Students will be asked to track their home reading, so please help your student create a home reading routine, and make regular visits to your local public library to ensure they have reading material.
Here is what we are doing this month in the classroom:
1) PE: European Handball, Gymnasium Games
2) Spelling: This straightforward weekly assignment is primarily meant to be completed as homework, in an attempt to help promote a greater sense of personal responsibility
3) Math: Whole number concepts - adding, subtracting, multiplying
4) LA: "Charlotte's Web" Novel Study completion, Paragraph Writing
5) Reading: Leveled Guided Reading Groups and Independent Comprehension Assignments
5) Science: Weather
6) French: Basic Greetings, Questions and Answers
7) Health and Planning: Friends for Life Program (cont.)
8) Visual Art: Varied assignments
November will be a busy month, so try to keep up to date by speaking with your child about what they are doing and learning in Grade 4 at Rogers.
Best wishes for another great month.
