What a pleasure it has been to get acquainted with your students over the past 2 weeks. We have already established classroom routines and expectations, and begun work on the curriculum.
This blog will be used to keep parents and families updated regarding what Division 12 is doing in the coming month. Check in at beginning of each month for the brief overview. Of course, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns do not hesitate to contact the teacher directly :) I will also issue paper copy newsletters for pertinent information.
Here's what we will be doing for the rest of September and into October:
MATH: Patterns, Sequence and T-Tables
SS: Geography
Reading: Reading Groups
Language Arts: "Charlotte's Web" Class Read Aloud Novel Study
Spelling: Weekly Word practice assignments*
* Parents please be aware that your student will usually need to complete their spelling assignments at home - aside from spelling proficiency, this assignment is intended to help create a homework routine for each student. Please help your student schedule their homework time so that their spelling assignment is complete by Friday morning.
Science:Weather (this unit will begin when our SS Geography Unit is complete).
PE: Gym games and Soccer
French: Getting to know the date.
Health and Planning: The Friends for Life Program (expect to see your student's work book some time soon.)
There you have a brief overview of the coming weeks. I look forward to a great year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Nast
